Torrevieja is once again preparing to celebrate one of its most cherished cultural events: the Fiesta de la Virgen de Covadonga. This year’s edition will take place from September 5 to 7, 2025, bringing a touch of northern Spain’s Asturian traditions to the Costa Blanca.
Organised by the Asturian community of Torrevieja, the festival combines religious devotion, music, gastronomy, and folklore. It is open to both locals and visitors, making it a great opportunity for tourists to experience something truly authentic beyond the beaches.
Highlights of the celebration include:
- ✨ Religious procession with the image of the Virgin of Covadonga through the streets of Torrevieja.
- 🎶 Traditional dances and music performed by Asturian cultural groups.
- 🍲 Gastronomy fair, featuring sidra (Asturian cider) and classic dishes like fabada asturiana.
- 🎉 Community gatherings and open-air entertainment in central squares.
The Virgin of Covadonga, also known as La Santina, is the patron saint of Asturias, and her feast day is widely celebrated across Spain. In Torrevieja, where many Asturians have settled, the tradition has grown into a vibrant annual festival that unites people of all backgrounds.

📍 When & Where: September 5–7, 2025, across various venues in central Torrevieja. Most events are free and open to the public.
