Not every beach in Torrevieja is long and sandy. Some are tiny pockets of sea and rock, often missed by tourists but loved by locals for a quick swim, a sunset chat, or a spot of fishing. Here are four of the smallest and most authentic coves you’ll find along the city’s coastline.
1️⃣ Cabo Cervera – The Northern Sentry

Located just south of La Mata, Cabo Cervera is a rocky headland with small sandy entries between the stone shelves. The water here is incredibly clear, making it great for snorkeling. There’s also a famous seafood restaurant of the same name nearby, perfect for a post-swim meal.
Local tip: Come early in the morning for absolute peace and glassy water.
2️⃣ Cala del Mojón – Rugged and Wild

Straddling the border between Torrevieja and Guardamar del Segura, this is the most natural-feeling spot on the list. Sand, dune vegetation, and hardly any buildings in sight. A great choice if you want to feel away from it all without leaving the city’s orbit.
Bring: Your own shade, snacks, and plenty of water — facilities are minimal.
3️⃣ Cala de la Zorra – Dramatic and Photogenic

Its name means “Fox Cove”, and it’s as slyly hidden as the animal itself. Steep, rocky sides frame a narrow strip of pebbles and rock pools. Not ideal for sunbathing, but unbeatable for dramatic coastal photography and wave-watching on windy days.
Fun fact: Locals say the name comes from foxes that used to roam the nearby fields decades ago.
4️⃣ Cala de la Higuera – Quiet Neighbourhood Swim Spot

Tucked between apartment buildings, this cove is small, sandy, and sheltered. It’s mostly used by residents from the surrounding streets, which keeps it low-key even in summer. The water is shallow and calm, making it good for a quick dip.
Local tip: There’s a bench on the promenade above that’s perfect for an evening ice cream and sunset view.
🌊 Why These Mini-Coves Are Worth Your Time
While they don’t have the size or facilities of Torrevieja’s main beaches, these coves offer something different — intimacy, character, and a sense of discovery. If you’ve already ticked off Playa del Cura, Los Locos, and La Mata, spending a morning hopping between these little spots can show you a quieter side of the Costa Blanca.
